Spanish Classical Guitar

Spanish Classical Guitar

Spanish classical guitar, also known as nylon stringed guitar is a form of guitar which has been used for centuries although it was only in the late 19th Century that the modern classical guitar was thought to have been developed from the Spanish Luthier Antonio Torres Jurado's designs, utilising six strings and a large soundboard.

Popular in many Latin countries including Spain and Portugal as well as south America, spanish guitar has roots in the flamenco and salsa music scenes. Many a rock star has started out using a Spanish guitar, only moving on to electric when more sound and effects were needed – Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Les Paul have all cut their teeth on Spanish guitar and have showcased acoustic mastery many times on stage.

Here at Westmount Music we offer a great range of Spanish guitars for students right through to professional musicians, with conservatory and recital models on display in our store and available to purchase through our ecommerce website.
